Future Sound of London - Lifeforms (1994)
Future Sound of London (often abbreviated to FSOL) is a British electronic music band formed by of Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans in Manchester (England) in the 1980s. They are notoriously enigmatic and have rarely granted interviews. Although often labelled as ambient, Dougans and Cobain have demonstrated that they are too eclectic to be pigeon-holed into any particular genre. Their work covers most areas of electronic music, such as ambient, drum and bass, trip-hop, ambient dub, and often involves extreme experimentation. Their 1994 2-cd album Lifeforms is an all-time ambient classic, but it differs from many other forms of ambient music in that it is not at all minimalistic (compare e.g. with Bill Laswell or Aphex Twin). Their musical influences are clearly wide-ranging, and Lifeforms may well be the most psychedelic electronic album I've ever heard. One reviewer highly advised his readers to drop an acid before listening to this. I've never tried the combination, but I have a good hunch (s)he had a strong point. Anyway, even without drugs this release is highly visual and, in my case at least, perpetually interesting!- Tracks (2 cds)

This is an awesome album. And "ISDN" is a wonderful contrast to it.
Thank you for posting this and the other great albums you have put up. Your blog is at the top of my list: great stuff!

True, ISDN is indeed a great contrast with Lifeforms. I used to own it and haven't heard it in years. Equally psychedelic, but more towards the trip hop spectrum. Go forth and purchase!
Have you heard The Isness yet?
I really hated it when I first bought it and then it became one of my favourites.
It sounds like late sixties psychedelia to me.
I wrote a review of it here.
buy it
Learn to use some interpunction.
The first part has now been deleted by Rapidshare...
It would be wonderful if you could repost it, as the second part is terrific!
Thanks
No problem man, just give me a few days (or a week max) - probably somewhere this weekend. Glad you like it, and part Z is at least as good as the first. There's this track with a tremendous bass guitar, and psychedelic airplaines... Wow...
Woops, just noticed it's the FIRST part you asked for - ROGER!
Damn!Even the updated link says 'no file found'.I'm probably a bit too late.Oh well...
Fixed it! I checked it this time, and it works. Sorry for the muck-up!
Hey Pax,
Just guessing want ben geen expert.
PS:bedankt voor de Biosphere,Polar Sequences en Air Liquide.Moeilijk te vinden tegenwoordig.
