The Amps - Pacer (1995)

With
Pacer Kim Deal (Pixies, Breeders) has created a quaint little album that is still somewhat underappreciated by the hoi polloi. None of the tracks are bad and some are positively good, if not great fuzzed out indierock pop songs. More gritty than releases by either the Pixies or the Breeders,
Pacer may appeal to a wide range of listeners. Whenever I put it on, I can't help thinking the musicians must have been very drunk, very stoned or both while recording. As one reviewer sweetly wrote, "Kim Deal is the most charming drunk of 90's alt-rock. And she sounds charmingly drunk through this odd album of hooky and colorful mini-songs. " Really good for the summer months!
