Question for Mac Users

I've had some posts relating to the fact of Mac users not being able to unpack my compressed files. They claim it's due to the password not working, but after a double check I had to concluded that cannot be the case. Could it have something to do with encryption? Any clues or solutions to this issue?

StuffIt Expander seems to fail on certain passwords. The files are OK as WinRAR will expand the file without complaint. I thought it might be slashes in the password, but it seems deeper and moe vague than that

When Expander fails, it often will leave behind an invisible directory ".$$ StuffIt Temp..." which can be found with a shell "ls -a" command.

That's what i've been encountering.
I thought it was the password (and hints thereof) being too cryptic for me to understand.
I shall try something on a windows machine later.

WHEN I CANNOT OPEN A FILE USING THE PASS WITH STUFFIT WHAT I DO IS TO TYPE THE PASS ON TEXTEDIT AND THE COPY-PASTE. IT WORKS IN MY MAC.

UnRAR - no problems the use or inability to use a password falls well under operator error

NewzTools seems not to be able to handle password protected rar-files.

Rar_Expender however works perfectly well.

Thanks to you all for solving the problem!

I heartily endorse UnRarX ... works like a charm on my Mac ... BUT remember to put the password in before you drag and drop.
